Paz-Holandesa wants to improve the living circumstances of socially and economically disadvantaged children by providing free medical support. Since 2000 Paz-Holandesa has committed itself to children with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. This has led among others to the foundation of a patient organisation APEBHI, the donation of shunts through the Child-Help programme, and to the start of a continence management project. Paz-Holandesa has more than 300 children with Spina Bifida in follow-up and yearly Dutch urologists are following up with all these kids to prevent kidney damage.
