Hydrocephalus occurs when cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up in the brain’s cavities, putting pressure on the brain and damaging tissue. It can be present at birth (congenital) or develop later in life (acquired) due to infections such as meningitis, brain haemorrhage, head trauma, or tumours.
Despite being so common, neuro first aid is rarely taught, and many healthcare professionals have limited training in managing hydrocephalus.
As part of this month of awareness, we are glad to participate in the World Hydrocephalus Conference, hosted by Neuro Kids Warriors, which will bring together families, medical professionals, and advocates to share knowledge and strengthen the fight against hydrocephalus.

This important event will highlight hydrocephalus in the Global South and help ensure that the voices of children, parents, and caregivers are heard.
